Typography

Marie Boulanger

Marie is a London-based type designer that I absolutely love. I first saw her project on 36daysoftype, a project-based community/platform that invites designers and artists to share their views on the letters and numbers from the Latin alphabet. Her work was to take each letter of the alphabet and turn it into a postal stamp and each stamp represented a country. As soon as I saw them, I was captured by such an intricate and natural design.

One of my favorite typefaces she has designed is Vulva Black which is a conceptual typeface inspired by International Women’s Day. I thought it was so witty and clever. I love that it shows how fun and bold typeface can be and how it has so much creativity in it.

She has just finished another 36daysoftype project featuring alphabets as fruit stickers. It is a very similar concept to the stamp one but those series are just so fun to look at. All of her projects are archived on Instagram.
